Allscripts Listed on Lot One of Health Systems Support Framework

AllscriptsAllscripts has been included on a new list of accredited suppliers of electronic patient records that has been published by NHS England and NHSX. The company is one of just eight vendors listed on lot one of the Health Systems Support Framework, which is expected to become one of the main routes for NHS trusts to procure digital services, software and infrastructure.

Richard Strong, vice president and managing director, EMEA, Allscripts, said: "We anticipate that as NHSX defines the technology standards it expects NHS IT systems to meet, it will feed them back into this contract."

"It will be for companies to show that they meet those standards, and for trusts to show that they are buying compliant systems, so they can secure central funding. That makes this framework a significant, national development, and we are very pleased to have been included on it."

NHS England and NHSX ran a robust evaluation and assurance process before including the Allscripts Sunrise electronic patient record.

Allscripts had to demonstrate that it is an open, standards-based company, that its solutions can enable trusts to meet the requirements set for England’s global digital exemplars, and that it can deploy its systems using a ‘thin’ or modular approach, so organisations can obtain the functionality they need.

As part of this process, GDE Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust created and endorsed a description of how it has used Sunrise to become one of the most digitally advanced trusts in the country.

"NHS England and NHSX want trusts to have a clear route to GDE status, by buying systems through this framework," Strong said. "To support that, we had to work with our clients to create case studies outlining their success, and to have those clients sign off on them."

"That partnership approach is very new, and it means that trusts have a strong pre-endorsement of any solutions that they are interested in."

Allscripts also outlined how its clinical wrap approach, which enables trusts to retain their patient administration systems, and to add clinical functionality at their own pace, is aligned with the HSS framework's objectives.

The Health Systems Support Framework has been put together to enable trusts and healthcare economies to procure IT infrastructure, software, analytics and new digital services for patients, to support transformation and integration projects.

In total, it has ten lots. Allscripts is also listed on lot 2a for its dbMotion, a population health management platform that delivers care co-ordination, data aggregation and analysis, and patient engagement.

Allscripts' listing on lot one and lot 2a means that trusts have an easier, quicker route to obtain EPRs and clinical solutions, while healthcare communities have a procurement vehicle for linking these up with other systems, to create the NHS services of the future.
