Carestream introduces new Healthcare IT and Diagnostic Imaging Systems at Röntgenveckan in Malmö, Sweden

CarestreamCarestream Health demonstrated several new diagnostic imaging products and advanced IT healthcare systems at the Röntgenveckan exhibition held recently in Malmö, Sweden. For the first time in Sweden the company introduced the new CARESTREAM Touch Prime Ultrasound System (not yet available for commercial sale.) The design includes several unique features and functions that can help improve image quality and make the medical imaging process faster and easier for healthcare professionals and patients.

Also on show was a prototype of the CARESTREAM Onsight 3D Extremity System (product under development, not yet available for commercial sale. Information regarding CBCT is only valid within the EU) which raises the bar for Cone Beam CT imaging. Developed to bring a new level of CBCT imaging, its functions will include obtaining weight-bearing images of knees, legs and feet, which are otherwise difficult to create, easy patient access and superb 2D and 3D images.

In addition, Carestream demonstrated important new features of their healthcare IT platform that collects, stores, manages and shares patient data and medical images. The Clinical Collaboration Platform (CCP) takes Carestream image capture products and services out of the Radiology department to a wider circle of hospital departments, boosting cooperation and providing a comprehensive view of critical patient in the form of images, videos and reports from neighbouring departments outside of Radiology. Retrieval of structured data and interactive reports provide better clinical insight as a single click on a link takes the doctor to the correct image information. For healthcare professionals using PACS, VNA, EMR or other solutions for managing medical data, the Clinical Collaboration Platform provides more efficient clinical management processes. Included are four main modules:

  • Acquisition Management collects clinical images and movies from new modalities outside the radiology and cardiology departments, such as from surgery, dermatology and even mobile devices. Patient specific data is assigned to facilitate telemedicine and teleradiology workflow.
  • Workflow management tools tag clinical data for search and display only, in accordance with the latest compatibility standards, such as DICOM/XDS/FHIR.
  • Vendor Neutral Archiving merges storage from various access systems to reduce costs.
  • Distribution and cooperation between various end users such as clinics, patients and administrators, using universal viewing tools.

Carestream also demonstrated other elements of its portfolio of radiology products, all designed to help healthcare professionals with diagnosis and treatment These included the CARESTREAM DRX-Revolution mobile X-ray system and a new generation of wireless CARESTREAM DRX1 detectors, as well as CARESTREAM Vue RIS and Vue PACS.
