Hospitals from France, the Netherlands and Spain Receive Stage 6 Awards

HIMSS EuropeHIMSS Analytics Europe, subsidiary of HIMSS Europe, recognized six hospitals in Europe with a Stage 6 Award during the annual HIMSS Europe CIO Summit, that has been taken place in Mallorca from the 18th to 20th of November.

The awarded hospitals are: Hospital Son Llatzer, Hospital Comarcal d'Inca and Hospital Parc de Salut Mar all from Spain; the Westfriesgasthuis Hospital and the Sint Lucas Andreas Ziekenhuis, from the Netherlands and the Centre Hospitalier de Valenciennes from France.

The European EMR Adoption Model (EMRAM) has been adapted to meet the needs of European Healthcare Institutions as a methodology for evaluating the progress and impact of the electronic medical record systems in hospitals. Tracking their progress in completing eight stages (0‐7), hospitals can review the implementation and utilization of information technology applications with the intent of reaching Stage 7, which represents a completely paperless environment.

Stage 6 & 7 hospitals provide best practices that other healthcare organizations can study as they strive to use EMR applications to improve patient safety, clinical outcomes and patient care delivery efficiency.

Uwe Buddrus, General Manager, HIMSS Analytics Europe, stated: "We are pleased with the increasing number of hospitals across Europe reaching Stage 6. This demonstrates that the resources and efforts that are invested in IT to deliver better healthcare, are making a real difference."
