The opportunities and limitations of IT applications in health care - this is the theme of the eHealth Congress on March 19th and 20th in Bad Homburg which will include high caliber speakers. The invited experts include Prof. Dr. Erich R. Reinhardt (former CEO of Siemens Healthcare), well-known data mining specialist Prof. Dr. Tobias Scheffer (Humboldt University Berlin) and information management authority Prof. Peter Sachsenmeier (University of Oxford).

"IT in health care and especially E-Health offer opportunities that could be very useful to health care but they are still often underutilized," said Prof. Dr. Christian Johner from the Institute for Information Technology in Health Care in Freiburg. "At the congress we want to identify this potential and give answers to questions about how data can be transformed into knowledge, what limitations IT has - whether technical, legal or organizational - and how systems can be created to actually support the work of users." With this one-off event, Fresenius Medical Care hopes to involve everyone who wants to develop or use innovative products and services in a dialogue to position IT more efficiently and effectively in health care.

The congress includes a festive evening event with an operatic theme on March 19 in Hessenpark near Neu Anspach.
