Conference organisers have had numerous requests for an extension of the deadline for abstracts for the VPH2010 conference. This is mainly due to the ICT Call 6 which many of the VPH community have been busy working on and in small part due to the volcanic ash cloud and the Easter holidays. As result, has been decided to extend the deadline for abstracts until 17th May 2010 at 17.00pm CET.
Additionally, organisers have announced that Zoran Stancic, Deputy Director General of DG Information Society will give the welcome address and open the conference on 30th September. With other keynote speakers such as Aleksander Popel (Johns Hopkins University), Nadia Rosenthal (European Molecular Biology Laboratory), Norbert Graf (University Hospital of the Saarland, and Janet Thornton (European Bioinformatics Institute), VPH2010 is likely to be "the" event for the VPH community worldwide. There is also a large Scientific Committee of VPH Experts from many different domains which reflects the multi-disciplinary nature of this first VPH event.
Submissions for posters or for oral presentations are welcome. Both kinds of submissions will be subject to the same reviewing process. Contributors are asked to submit abstracts rather than full papers. Submitted abstracts will be selected for inclusion in VPH 2010 by the VPH 2010 Programme Committee for:
Talks and posters will appear in electronic format on the conference web pages via the VPH NoE website.
The submission should be no more than 2 A4 pages of text in a word file (1800 words) or up to three pages if it includes diagrams, tables and references, with the extra space devoted to these and any captions. Font size should be no smaller than 10 pt Times New Roman with 2.5cm margins. All pages should be numbered and diagrams and tables should be positioned in their proper place in relation to the text, ensuring that the total contribution does not exceed 3 pages. Authors invited to prepare full manuscripts for submission to Interface Focus will also need to adhere to a further schedule for submission and review; final copy will be required by 15th February 2011.
