conhIT Features IT Security on Exclusive Display Area

In addition to divers IT security events, this year's conhIT, Europe's most important event for the Health IT industry, will feature a display area on 'IT security in healthcare' for the first time. Over the three days of the Industrial Fair, the so-called 'IT-Security' area will give visitors an opportunity to discuss security topics in detail.

Nowadays, ensuring data availability and managing authorised access takes up a significant part of work procedures in hospitals and other medical institutions. That is why wide-ranging measures are necessary to ensure sensitive health information does not get into the wrong hands and unauthorised third parties are unable to gain access to IT systems. The organizers of conhIT are equally aware of how important IT security is. In addition to a Congress session, an Academy seminar and a number of panel discussions, where the focus is on 'IT security in healthcare', for the first time conhIT 2016 will feature an exclusive display area on the subject.

"In response to a recent survey conducted by bvitg on the importance of Health IT, that asked which IT topics played a role in healthcare, resident practitioners and hospital representatives said that IT security was of great significance, both now and in the future. Service providers are highly sensitive to topics concerning data protection and data security. Against the backdrop of the IT Security Law which came into force in July 2015 that is hardly surprising. Information contained in the healthcare system must at all costs be protected, and for that reason a detailed discussion on IT security is necessary," said Ekkehard Mittelstaedt, the managing director of German Association of Health IT Vendors (bvitg), the sponsor of conhIT, commenting on the focus of this topic.

At conhIT 2016 the display area featuring IT security is being hosted by CETUS Consulting from Münster. Together with CETUS Consulting, seculution GmbH, NCP-Engineering GmbH and DOCRaid are also represented on the stand. The stand in Hall 2.2 also features a display area focusing on important security topics, where demonstrations will be given of ransomware and APT waves. Visitors can find out more about how cyber-attacks work, enabling them to respond in the correct way and take appropriate precautionary measures. There will also be presentations by co-exhibitors on topics such as secure cloud computing and secure mobile applications.
