Harris Corporation Completes Integration of Carefx into its Harris Healthcare Solutions Business

Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), an international communications and information technology company, has fully integrated Carefx, into its Harris Healthcare Solutions business. Pairing the Carefx interoperability platform with Harris' established delivery expertise, the organization is able to further help providers across the care continuum achieve clinical integration and improvements in care quality, safety, efficiency and performance.

Harris Healthcare Solutions promote interoperability, clinical integration, streamlined workflow, and analytics; all of which are adaptable to our customers’ specific care delivery setting and the unique requirements of their physical, technical, and user environments. In addition to solutions such as health information exchange, image management, and infrastructure, the integration of Carefx has expanded the Harris portfolio to include workflow management, business and clinical analytics and provider and patient portals, all of which are readily available to trusts throughout the UK.

"We are focused on integrating complex clinical and business data and making it available for clinicians and executives to act upon at the point of clinical, operational and financial decision making," said Jim Traficant, president, Harris Healthcare Solutions. "We are leveraging the Carefx interoperability platform and Harris' richness in Health IT, infrastructure, and execution to advance healthcare globally.

"Harris solutions leverage existing technology infrastructure and deliver clinical integration and analytics across disparate data sources, enhancing clinician adoption and delivering significant savings over wholesale system replacement," Traficant added.

Trusts including Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust, West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust, Frimley Park Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Derby Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust are already beginning to reap the benefits that the acquisition has brought.

James Norman, IT director at Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust, said: "We have built a strong relationship with Carefx over the past two years through the deployment of our clinical portal. We are now excited to see the broad and innovative range of solutions and skills that Harris can now bring to the UK and beyond through the acquisition. We look forward to working with Harris on our journey to become one of the most technologically advanced and innovative trusts in the UK."

Mike McSweeney, associate director informatics, Frimley Park Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, said, "Since the NHS IT market has opened up there are a number of new and existing players competing for the attention of NHS trusts. Now that Carefx has combined its qualities with Harris, it gives Harris the market presence it needs in the UK to provide trusts with the most innovative solutions, while maintaining the close relationship with healthcare professionals, which ensures its products are tailored to their needs."
