HIMSS and Elsevier Launch New Digital Healthcare Award in Europe

HIMSS EuropeThe Healthcare Information and Management System (HIMSS) and Elsevier, a world leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information products and services, have launched the HIMSS-Elsevier Digital Healthcare Award in Europe. The award recognises outstanding achievements in the usage of information and technology to successfully advance patient care and safety. Nominations for the category on 'Outstanding ICT Achievement Award' are now open to all public and private healthcare providers based in Europe.

The Award will be launched in November at the 2016 World of Health IT Conference (WoHIT) in Barcelona, which will gather top European healthcare stakeholders to address best practices, practical solutions and cutting edge developments in the eHealth ecosystem.

Established in 2013, the award has recognized over 60 projects from 57 hospitals across 11 countries from the Asia Pacific and Middle East regions, and has been extended to Europe to further highlight global innovations in healthcare.

Jeremy Bonfini, Executive Vice President, HIMSS International said: "Having witnessed a high number of submissions and outstanding quality of winners during the Asia Pacific and Middle East awards, we are excited to recognise exemplar projects from our European colleagues. The HIMSS-Elsevier Digital Healthcare Award strives to encourage its participants to showcase best practices in health and care, where the results have ultimately improved patient outcomes."

All nominations will be reviewed by a diverse panel of judges comprising leading Chief Information Officers (CIO) and healthcare providers from different regions. They are: John Rayner, Regional Director for Europe and Latin America from HIMSS Analytics; Dr Peter Edelstein, Chief Medical Officer of Elsevier Clinical Solutions in the United States; Elena Sini from Humanitas Hospital in Italy; Giovanni Delgrossi, CIO at Vimercate Hospital in Italy; Philippe Kolh, CIO at the CHU in Liege, Belgium; Vicent Moncho Mas, CIO of Hospital de Denia in Spain, and Seamus Mac Suibhne, CCIO at eHealth Ireland, amongst others.
