Nominations Open for 2nd HIMSS-Elsevier Digital Healthcare Award in Europe

HIMSS-Elsevier Digital Healthcare Award in EuropeElsevier, the information analytics company specialising in science and health, and HIMSS, the Healthcare Information and Management System Society, jointly announced that nominations are open for the second HIMSS-Elsevier Digital Healthcare Award in Europe.

The award recognises world-class practice in digital healthcare and is run in partnership with HIMSS. Nominations are open to all public and private healthcare providers based in Europe, under two categories: the 'Outstanding ICT Achievement Award' and 'Outstanding ICT Innovation Award'.

  • The 'Outstanding ICT Achievement Award' celebrates teams who have harnessed information and technology to successfully advance patient care and safety.
  • The 'Outstanding ICT Innovation Award' focuses on those who have creatively leveraged existing technology or developed ground-breaking new solutions, to significantly enhance patient care and outcomes, and drive greater ICT adoption.

Established in 2013, the award has received 151 submissions from 89 organisations across 24 countries from the Asia Pacific, Middle East and European regions, highlighting global innovations in healthcare.

The award ceremony will take place on 28 May at the HIMSS Europe and Health 2.0 Conference in Sitges, Barcelona, which will gather the entire European healthcare ecosystem under one roof to address best practices, practical solutions and cutting-edge developments in digital health.

John Rayner, Director of HIMSS Analytics, said: "Having witnessed a high number of submissions and outstanding quality of winners during the launch of the European edition in 2016, I am excited to be part of the judging panel for a second time. Extending the nominations to a further two categories also gives us the opportunity to recognise additional innovative projects from our European colleagues. The HIMSS-Elsevier Digital Healthcare Award strives to encourage its participants to showcase best practices in health and care, where the results have ultimately improved patient outcomes."

All nominations will be reviewed by a diverse panel of judges comprising of leading Chief Information Officers (CIOs) and healthcare providers from different regions.

The HIMSS-Elsevier Digital Healthcare Award is a global platform to recognize outstanding achievements and innovations in the usage of health information and technology, to advance patient care and safety. Originally established in 2013, it is held annually across Asia Pacific, the Middle East and Europe. The award was first held in Europe in 2016.
