TietoEnator's healthcare IT solution for German hospital awarded innovation prize

TietoEnatorThe German cooperation project "Digitalisation of Clinical Pathways" between the Bundesknappshaft Hospital in Bottrop and TietoEnator has been awarded with the VHitG-Award for the best IT solution in the national healthcare market. The solution supports the development of patient care processes.

The prize appreciates institutions or projects which are dealing with the implementation of innovative IT projects with regard to the changing general conditions in public health. VHitG is the association for developers of healthcare IT solutions. The jury awarding the prize is an independent group with members of parliament, business consultants, scientist, etc.

"I'm convinced that with the help of Clinical Pathways we will be able to save a huge amount of expenses. And after all we can also improve the quality of patient care through standardized and proven processes. With the help of IT, many processes will be simplified and will make activities easier for staff members," says Cornelia Müller-Wenzel, head of Central Controlling at the Bundesknappshaft Hospital in Bottrop.

The Clinical Pathway solution is a part of TietoEnator's iMedOne healthcare product family, an integrated hospital information system (HIS). Bundesknappshaft (Federal Social Miners' and Mine Employees' Insurance Company) Hospital in Bottrop has been working with the solution since May 2005. Today more than 118 Paths are clinic- wide, across all disciplines, implemented, covering 63 per cent of the patient spectrum.
