Agfa HealthCare to show unique web-enabled cardiovascular information system

AGFAAt the occasion of the World Congress of Cardiology in Barcelona, from September 2 until 6, Agfa HealthCare will demonstrate its leading cardiology solution: Agfa Heartlab Cardiovascular. The event also marks the European debut of Heartlab Congenital, the world's most comprehensive and flexible reporting and analysis tool for congenital echocardiography reporting.

Consolidating information from multiple cardiology subspecialties, Agfa Heartlab Cardiovascular improves departmental workflow, enables faster and more accurate diagnosis and creates a comprehensive digital cardiac record. More than twenty facilities on the world market have recently placed orders for Agfa's vendor neutral solution that connects all modality equipment. "Hospitals and clinics across Europe, Asia Pacific and the Middle East have entered into a contract with Agfa HealthCare to adopt the Heartlab Cardio suite, adding significantly to our global presence," said Reid Losee, Agfa's Global Cardiovascular Business Director. "The world market has recognized our clinical and technical expertise in the area of cardiology," she added.

Heart defects are among the most common birth defects and are the leading cause of birth-defect related deaths, according to the American Heart Association (AHA). Advances in diagnosis and surgical treatment have led to dramatic increases in survival for children with serious heart defects, the association has stated. As a result there is a growing population of adults with congenital heart disease. "We're excited to introduce our congenital product to the European market," said Dr. William Drake, Agfa's Congenital Heart Product Manager. "A large population of children and adults with congenital heart disease will benefit from these dynamic analysis and diagnostic tools."
