43 Asklepios Clinics in Germany Standardize their Hospital Information System with Agfa HealthCare's ORBIS

Agfa HealthcareAsklepios Kliniken Verwaltungsgesellschaft (AKV), which represents more than 50% of the turnover of the Asklepios group, the largest private hospital group in Germany, has chosen Agfa HealthCare's ORBIS as the standard hospital information system (HIS) for 43 clinics. In addition, all 43 clinics will use ORBIS RIS as their radiology information system of choice. The implementation of the project will start in 2014.

As part of its HIS strategy, AKV identified one single supplier to improve administration and workflows as well as to simplify training. Following a competitive search for a solution, AKV selected Agfa HealthCare's ORBIS, an innovative and comprehensive hospital-wide clinical and administrative information system that manages and monitors all patient-oriented processes: medical, nursing, administrative and business. The agreement also includes ORBIS RIS, which streamlines the entire radiology workflow.

Standardizing HIS keeps hospital's focus on patients
"Up till now, we have been using different HIS in our clinics. But it was obvious that we had to unify our IT in the long run. We must always maintain our focus on our patients; a unified HIS can help us to ensure that we perform safely and excellently," Kai Hankeln, manager of Asklepios, explains.

"We are delighted to win this important project," comments Winfried Post, general manager of Agfa HealthCare DACH. "We are confident that AKV has made the right choice and we look forward to continuing to act as a reliable partner for their IT. We will be undertaking all the necessary efforts to ensure the success of this project."

Martin Stein, CIO of Asklepios, concludes, "In Agfa HealthCare, we have found a dependable partner."
