Allscripts Launches New Mobile Acute Care Solution Designed for Nursing Professionals

AllscriptsAllscripts (NASDAQ: MDRX) has introduced Sunrise Mobile Care™, a new mobile application for the Allscripts Sunrise EHR that delivers valuable medication, order and result information to the mobile devices of nurses and other clinicians.

Allscripts Sunrise Mobile Care extends the power and usability of the Sunrise platform. The easy-to-use application allows nurses and other clinicians to review and input patient information at the point of care, improving workflow efficiencies, driving quality outcomes and supporting real-time patient care and documentation.

"Sunrise Mobile Care is an exciting new addition to the Sunrise solutions suite," said Rich Berner, President, Sunrise and International for Allscripts. "Specifically designed for the unique needs and demands of nurses and clinicians, it gives them a powerful tool at the point of care, with the information, insights and patient data to improve outcomes in the highly complex, fast-paced acute environment."

Allscripts Sunrise Mobile Care is designed for the Apple® iPhone® 5/5S, iPad® and iPod touch® 5th Generation running iOS 8 (and supports backward compatibility to iOS 7). It has a range of highly useful features for nurses and other clinicians to help manage care.

The new application uses the Allscripts Sunrise continuous patient record and patient lists, with full alert icons and bi-directional updates, so nurses and other clinicians can add or delete patients and send management alerts by patient. A patient summary gives quick access to key information including allergies, vitals and intake and output values (with graphs and trends), as well as a problem list. Partnered with scanning technology, nurses and other clinicians can complete barcode medication administration workflows easily without being burdened by a tethered scanner or large medication cart.

Sunrise Mobile Care helps Allscripts Sunrise clients leverage the value of their investment as the application uses existing forms and medical logic models and patient data always remains in sync. It joins a newly enhanced Allscripts Sunrise Mobile MD II, a comprehensive tool to facilitate frequent rounding by the clinical care team in the hospital environment.

Importantly, Allscripts Sunrise Mobile Care supports the improvement of operational efficiencies and patient outcomes, helping to ensure that:

  • Nurses and other clinicians have the information they need at the bedside and anywhere they have their mobile devices.
  • All clinicians work from a single patient record, database and platform.
  • Adoption of the EHR is maximized and nurse and clinician satisfaction is improved.
  • Data captured by Sunrise mobile applications becomes part of quality metrics, such as Meaningful Use 2 requirements for barcode medication administration.

Allscripts Sunrise Mobile Care further advances the evolution and adoption of untethered health care technology. Allscripts Sunrise mobile applications utilize the Allscripts Sunrise population-health enabled platform, an advanced healthcare technology that integrates acute, ambulatory, emergency, surgical, revenue cycle management and other areas on one unified database. Used by many of the leading hospitals and health systems in the world, Allscripts Sunrise offers clinician-specific workflows that help drive adoption of clinical decision support which can lead to improved outcomes.
