Philips Announces Breakthrough in New Medical Imaging Technology
Royal Philips Electronics (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHI) today announced the first 3D imaging results obtained with a new imaging technology called Magnetic Particle Imaging (MPI). The technology, which uses the magnetic properties of iron-oxide nanoparticles injected into the bloodstream, has been used in a pre-clinical study to generate unprecedented real-time images of arterial blood flow and volumetric heart motion.

Philips Healthcare Business Showed Positive Growth in 2008
Royal Philips Electronics (AEX: PHI, NYSE: PHG) has published its Annual Report for 2008. In 2008, Philips Healthcare's sales amounted to EUR 7,649 million, 15% higher than in 2007 on a nominal basis, largely thanks to the contributions from acquired companies, notably Respironics. Excluding the 14% positive impact of portfolio changes and the 5% unfavorable impact of currency effects, comparable sales grew 6%.
