Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center Orders CARESTREAM DRX-Revolution Mobile X-ray Systems

CarestreamBeth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (Boston, Mass.), a teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School, purchased four CARESTREAM DRX-Revolution Mobile X-Ray Systems to provide immediate access to high-resolution images in multiple intensive care units that serve trauma, cardiac, surgical and other critical care patients.

"We test drove several portable imaging systems and liked the features of the DRX-Revolution, including its handling and maneuverability along with a collapsible column that makes it much safer and easier to drive," said Elisabeth A. Grady, BS, RT(R) (CV), General Diagnostic Manager of the Radiology Department at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.

"We believe the tube and grid alignment feature can enhance image quality by making it easier to use a grid, and we expect having image access at the tube head can save time when tending to critical care patients.

"Purchasing new DR-based portable systems is part of the 631-bed hospital's conversion from CR to DR. "It's easier for our radiologists to track changes in a patient's condition when all the images are captured with DR systems. And when it comes to critically ill or injured patients, it's important to give our physicians and radiologists the tools they need to detect very subtle changes," Elisabeth Grady explains.

The hospital previously installed two dual-detector CARESTREAM DRX-Evolution suites in its Level 1 Trauma Center and four CARESTREAM DRX-Mobile Retrofit Kits to convert existing portable imaging systems from CR to DR.

"Radiology managers and radiographers across the globe are embracing the many advantages offered by the DRX-Revolution including its excellent image quality, exceptional maneuverability, compact footprint, touch-sensitive motor drive and collapsible column," said Diana L. Nole, President, Digital Medical Solutions, Carestream Health. "Its innovative features create benefits for radiographers, patients and physicians."
