Enhancing eHealth, Active Ageing and Independent Living Project Results Towards H2020

A remarkable number of results have been generated by research and innovation projects in the domains of eHealth, Active Ageing and Independent Living. HAIVISIO project aims at helping those projects to set a common strategy for joint dissemination and exploitation activities, through the organization of events and training courses and the facilitation of an online community.

Since the beginning of European funding programmes and initiatives, like FP7, CIP and AAL, a large amount of research and innovation projects that have been funded by the European Commission in the domains of eHealth, Active Ageing and Independent Living have provided remarkable results (e.g. technologies, services, methodologies, success stories, studies, etc). However, it has been identified that a large amount of these results did not reach either the exploitation aims or the business impact that were initially envisaged. Moving towards Horizon 2020 - Health, demographic change and well-being, new funding opportunities for research projects will appear, and dissemination of results will be needed.

"We frequently find a lack of communication and knowledge sharing among projects dealing with similar problems, a lack of awareness and effective dialog between stakeholders involved, and a slow uptake of technological innovation due to a lack of appropriate visibility and practical applicability of quality and potential of project results." says Blanca Jordán, as director of the eHealth Sector in Atos Research and Innovation and Project Manager of HAIVISIO.

HAIVISIO will coordinate communication activities, facilitate specific events and synergies in order to increase the number of collaboration cases and to significantly enhance visibility and awareness on the results generated from eHealth, Active Ageing and Independent Living projects.

HAIVISIO is coordinated by Atos Spain, a large information technology services company with more than 10 years of experience in R&D projects. There are 4 other organisations in HAIVISIO Consortium that have a very high expertise in their domains and some are considered leading players in their roles. AGE Platform Europe is a European network of 167 organisations of and for people aged 50+ which aims to voice and promote the interests of the 150 million senior citizens in the European Union and to raise awareness on the issues that concern them most. VILABS is a Greek SME that provides consultancy services for entrepreneurs and inventors to innovate, specialised in eHealth/Active Ageing projects. HIM is an SME specialised in ICT solutions for the monitoring and the social inclusion of frail individuals. The Netwell Centre is an Irish research institution within the School of Health and Science at the Institute of Technology focused ageing, health, technology and the environment. Netwell is at the heart of a living lab for "enhancing longer living in smarter places" formed within an eco-system of public and private sector partners.

The HAIVISIO project will help bridge the gap between research results and the provision of services to older citizens in the EU. "HAIVISIO will contribute with recommendations to national and EU policies as support to relevant active projects," concludes Ms Jordán.

The project has started in November 2013 and will last for 2 years. The HAIVISIO Consortium is planning a series of events - coming soon - as well as an online community and collaboration environment that will be available soon..
