Telemonitoring Can Make Cardiac Implant Therapy More Efficient and Cost-Effective
The possibility to monitor patients and their cardiac implants such as pacemakers or defibrillators remotely has the potential to improve the efficiency of Cardiac Implant Electronic Device (CIED) therapy, and make the treatment more cost-effective. European Business to Increase R&D Spending Despite Crisis
Top EU businesses expect their investments in research and development to grow by an average of 4% annually over the period 2012 to 2014, according to a Commission survey of some of Europe's companies that invest the most in R&D. The figures show the importance that these companies place on R&D as a key factor for their future growth and prosperity, despite the current economic difficulties.

New UK eHealth Centres to Revolutionise Health Research
A consortium of 10 UK government and charity funders, led by the Medical Research Council (MRC), has made a historic £19 million investment to establish four eHealth research Centres of Excellence in London, Manchester, Dundee and Swansea. The funding awards were announced at the British Business Embassy's life sciences summit at Lancaster House by the Minister for Universities and Science David Willetts.
