MEDTEL 2006 International Conference - eHealth Promotion

MEDTEL 2006 - The international conference - eHealth Promotion - is the fourth bi-annual conference focusing on the healthcare telematics and taking place in Prague.

The aim of the conference is to promote contacts between healthcare workers in the Czech Republic and their counterparts in the European Union. Concurrently the conference proves successful participation of MEDTEL, o.p.s. and other Czech stakeholders on European projects and activities in eHealth sector.

MEDTEL Conference participants are cordially invited to the meetings of two periodical and two projects oriented European activities.

EFMI / The European Federation for Medical Informatics
EFMI is the largest and most comprehensive European stage for the exchange of ideas and knowledge in the fields of Medical, Health and Bio-Informatics. EFMI is concerned with the theory and practice of Information Science and Technology within Health and Health Science in a European context.

EFMI WG Cards
EFMI WG Cards aims at being a European competence centre to watch ongoing activities and to provide knowledge to policy makers and architect designers involved in the deployment of cards related projects in the field of the healthcare sector.

EHTEL
EHTEL (European Health Telematics Association) in an international non-profit organization created in 1999 and based in Brussels. EHTEL mission is to share experience and learning from others, to inform members of what is going on in Europe and beyond, to contribute to discussions at EU level on e.g. interoperability, eHealth and telemedicine issues.

Patient Health Record
Database of medical and health-related data about patients which can be accessible via Internet from every place after observing authorization and security rules. The main idea behind development of this service was improvement of health care services quality through enabling the access to patient medical history for every health professional taking care of him or her.

BIOHEALTH
The Biohealth project deals with security related standardisation in eHealth. It addresses all those concerned with eHealth; those working in healthcare as well as patients and citizens; healthcare insurers as well as governmental bodies or healthcare industry. Biohealth will inform interested people on the relevant standards, provide support on their implementation and present best-practices.

eHealth Promotion
Project "Network for further education in medical telematics and eHealth promotion" is focused on development of human resources using activities like education, information, model consulting and technological demonstration. It is based on the partnership of the non-for-profit organization MEDTEL which supports eHealth, two Prague SME's, interested in the field of ICT: APROKS s.r.o. and IMA s.r.o., 1st Medical School of Charles University, Prague, Department of Medical Informatics of the Institute of Informatics (part of Academy of Science of Czech Republic) as well as Prague Economic Chamber, which is bridging project activities to the industry.
