BELIEF-EELA strengthens e-Infrastructures links between Europe & Latin America
The conference will offer you valuable insights into the trends and visions of the evolving e-Infrastructures ecosystem in Latin America and Europe. You will be able to showcase your activities and learn from others' achievements. By attending the event you can help shape how e-Infrastructures are extended to new application areas in the two regions and discuss the opportunties and priorities for collaboration between Latin America and Europe.

A key theme of the conference is ensuring that these e-Infrastructures become a sustainable reality for research between the continents, whether in business or academic fields. Under the theme Connecting the Knowledge of Today for the Value of Tomorrow, the BELEIF-EELA Conference addresses several key issues in the domain of e-Health. Grid and electronic infrastructures allow medical researchers and practitioners to collaborate, share resources and access common datasets. Compute-intensive activities, such as processing huge amounts of cases, trial outcomes, instances of a disease or pathology, as well as activities related to medical imaging, bio-informatics and drug discovery can all benefit from these technologies to tackle scientific problems on a global scale.

The BELIEF-EELA Conference presents a number of real-life collaborations, including a data Grid infrastructure deployed across three international sites to store, query and retrieve medical images. The session dedicated to Biomedical Informatics also evaluates computational modelling of the heart, in addition to possible Grid-enable solutions for key health problems facing Latin America.

Experts evaluate how to best chart the way towards the full incorporation of e-infrastructures and Grid technology into the mainstream of Biomedical research and explores opportunities for future collaborations across diverse regions of the world.
