Personal Health Records and Hospital Connectivity for Belgium

InterComponentWare AGeHealth specialist InterComponentWare AG (ICW) and the Belgian Vitalsys SA agreed upon a marketing and sales cooperation. Vitalsys will offer ICW's eHealth solutions for the Belgian market and make their HomeCare devices compatible with ICW's personal health record LifeSensor.

Vitalsys HomeCare devices transmit values measured by the patients themselves at home into the web-based personal health record (PHR) LifeSensor. By this, patients and their authorized physicians have worldwide 24/7 access to the data stored in the PHR, e.g. current and former blood pressure, blood sugar or body weight values. Thus, within a CareManagement program, impending complications can be recognized at an early stage and adequate responsive measures taken. Authorized physicians can also access information on former diseases, diagnoses and therapies stored in their patients' PHR allowing them to make better treatment decisions.

In addition to the personal health record LifeSensor, Vitalsys will distribute the hospital connectivity solution ICW ProfessionalGate in Belgium. ICW ProfessionalGate connects hospital IT systems which have been incompatible up to now. Authorized physicians of participating hospitals can thus access a virtual electronic medical record with all patient information and documentation available within the hospital network. In order to obtain such a complete access to patient data, it is no longer necessary for hospitals to replace their different IT systems with a uniform solution – thus saving on expensive data migration and employee training. A large German hospital chain already operates with ICW ProfessionalGate.
