HIMSS Analytics Europe Launched

HIMSSHIMSS has announced the formation of HIMSS Analytics Europe (HAE), a German-based company, to provide health care organizations, governments and information technology companies extensive data resources and services about the adoption and use of healthcare information technology in Europe. The development of the initial offerings will occur over the next several months with a full launch of resources planned for late September 2010.

HIMSS' recent acquisition of assets from Hospital IT.Net serves as the foundation of the new entity and will be the basis for a new portfolio of products and services for the European health care market. HIMSS Analytics Europe will offer a full array of services to health care organizations such as comparative IT adoption benchmarking, a European-formulated EMR Adoption Model (EMRAM) scale, and other resources to help hospital directors, IT executives and clinicians better understand not only their own IT operations but how they compare to others. Resources for country-level policy makers and supplier companies that provide insight into the HIT marketplace will also be a part of the new offerings.

"HIMSS Analytics Europe services will enable hospitals, their IT suppliers and governments to make practical assessments of their IT activities. This is a crucial step for HIMSS Europe in its mission to transform healthcare through the effective use of information technology," said H. Stephen Lieber, President and CEO of HIMSS.

Uwe Buddrus, former owner of Hospital IT.Net will serve as Managing Director for the Leipzig-based HIMSS Analytics Europe. He stated: "The launch of HIMSS Analytics Europe brings together world-class research and analytics with profound European experience and the most extensive database of Hospital IT adoption in Europe."

More information about HIMSS Analytics Europe will be unveiled at the HIMSS Europe Health IT Leadership Summit Rome on 29 September - 1 October 2010. The event will attract European IT Directors, Managers, and CEO's. To attend visit www.hitleadershipsummit.eu
