System C's New Product to Protect Sensitive Healthcare Data

System CSystem C has announced the launch of a new product which allows healthcare providers to ensure they are in control of the flow of sensitive personal information and patient health records. Called IGFlow, the new product will be showcased for the first time this week at Smart Healthcare (Earls Court, June 9th/10th) and the NHS Confederation annual conference (Liverpool ACC, June 10th-12th).

NHS trusts across Kent have already chosen to implement IGFlow. Morfydd Williams, Programme Director at Kent and Medway Programme Office, praised the product for its ease of use and for the fact that it runs on a modern .NET platform.

"It will allow our trusts to make accessible to all staff the approved methods of sending and receiving personal information as well as an easy method for the Caldicott Guardians to review and update information flows," she said.

In the wake of several high-profile national incidents, NHS chief executive David Nicholson has instructed all trust chief executives to review and tighten their information governance and data transfer arrangements.

IGFlow allows staff to map the flows of 'person identifiable data' (PID) around their own organisation and across to other organisations. It covers email traffic, letters, faxes, CDs tapes, x-rays, and other media. The product includes an automatic risk calculator which analyses and assesses the risk attached to each flow.

"This tool will allow staff to access the information they need in order to send patient identifiable data safely by using trust approved information flows," Ms Williams explained.
