TietoEnator strengthens its position in European healthcare market

TietoEnatorTietoEnator has acquired the entire share capital in the German healthcare IT provider Cymed AG. The company specialises in hospital information solutions and hygiene software for hospitals and laboratories. Cymed has 34 employees located in Bochum. The acquisition will support TietoEnator's healthcare growth strategy and goal to be one of the leading ICT solution and service providers in the European healthcare market. The acquisition is effective as of 1 October 2006.

Cymed has more than 500 customers in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Their offering is based on three of their own software product lines. Hybase is a statistics and analysis system for all requirements concerning hygiene monitoring in hospitals and laboratories. The solution is the market leader in Germany and Austria with 450 customers. Cymed HIS is the hospital information system based on modules, which can also be used independently. Cyway is a process design tool for specifying and documenting clinical pathways. Net sales in 2006 are expected to amount to EUR 3.5 million. The purchase price of the acquisition is EUR 5.1 million. Cymed's management will continue in their current jobs.
