Tieto's Healthcare Mobile Solution for Operation Planning

TietoTieto's existing operation planning tool Provisio has been used as the basis for its new prototype, called iProvisio. The system is a completely digital tool covering every aspect of patient treatment associated with operations. iProvisio helps eliminate time-consuming administrative tasks involved in operation planning, while also speeding up access to important patient information. The solution is available for Apple's new tablet PC iPad and was presented in 27-29 April at Vitalis fair in Sweden. The first pilot project is planned to start in the autumn 2010.

Tieto has delivered healthcare and welfare mobile solutions for several years and runs many projects aimed at improving the usability of applications. The solutions are powered by a variety of technologies and are always based on the users' need for practical work tools.

"User-friendliness is one of the most important and crucial factors when developing healthcare solutions. We have now provided a further example where we have used the latest technology and can offer a user-friendly interface. The solution will improve the situation for doctors and patients alike," says Arto Ryymin, responsible for the healthcare and welfare business within Tieto.

Thanks to iProvisio on the iPad, doctors can carry out a pre-operative assessment at the patient's bedside and enter the relevant information directly by the iProvisio pre-operative assessment function communicating wirelessly with the core system.

"We are pleased that we can now also offer a mobile solution for opeation planning. Any new information about a patient will be directly available to anyone who needs to access the latest facts. This solution will also enable healthcare staff to work more efficiently as information can be entered and searched for even during rounds," says Jon Dahlen, working for product development in Tieto Healthcare Scandinavia. "Effective, mobile digital support tools can also save time for doctors and other healthcare staff, time which is currently devoted to administrative tasks at different stages," adds Jon Dahlen.

iProvisio contributes to greater patient safety, better quality, freed up resources and increased motivation while it helps make the doctor's working day more efficient:

  • Doctors can focus on the patient rather than a computer
  • Communication with patients is improved and feels more natural
  • The consultation can be carried out anywhere in the hospital
  • The system is always up to date
  • The doctor always sees the most up-to-date and relevant information for the patient
  • No more illegible notes on paper or notes that disappear
  • No more pointless tasks, such as entering handwritten notes into the system
  • Doctors do not need to try to find a computer to enter their notes
  • The pre-operative assessment can be carried out anywhere in the hospital
