Agfa HealthCare Signs Major PACS/RIS/NIS Agreement with Meander Medical Center in the Netherlands

Agfa HealthCareAgfa HealthCare has signed an agreement with Meander Medical Center in Amersfoort, the Netherlands, to upgrade the hospital's existing IMPAX Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) and to implement both Agfa HealthCare's Radiology Information System (RIS) and Nuclear Information System (NIS), with speech recognition. The deal also includes a Managed Services contract that will keep the solution state-of-the-art over time, plus a storage solution. The contract for the upgraded PACS and new RIS/NIS was signed in 2012, and implementation is to be completed in March 2013.

Integrated workflow meets varied needs of large healthcare enterprise
The Meander Medical Center is a top clinical and training hospital in the Netherlands. Its four sites count 982 beds, and handle almost 700,000 outpatient visits per year. The hospital has 3,300 employees and 239 clinicians. The radiology department's 14 radiologists and 130 staff members carry out 175,000 exams annually. In 2013, the hospital group will move into an impressive, brand-new site.

With the Agfa HealthCare solution being implemented, the IMPAX PACS, RIS and NIS will be integrated into a single workflow. The benefits of this integration for the hospital include smoother workflow, faster results, consolidated patient information, efficient patient turnaround and more.

Complete solution supports care throughout the hospital
As Agfa HealthCare's image and information management platform, IMPAX delivers integrated solutions that help to improve workflow across the multiple stages of patient care. The IMPAX RIS and IMPAX NIS solutions enable users to electronically manage radiology- and nuclear medicine-specific operations, end-to-end, from patient registration through worklist generation and medical reporting, and on to business intelligence. The specialized solutions for the radiology and nuclear medicine departments are designed to boost efficiency, improve workflow, increase productivity and help deliver high-quality information to hospital staff, patients and referring physicians. The deal also includes a Managed Services contract that provides the hospital continuously upgraded systems with uptime assurances.

"We are very pleased to continue and extend our existing relationship with Agfa HealthCare," says Martha Peters, Manager Radiology & Nuclear Medicine for Meander Medical Center. "They were able to offer us the complete and future-proof solution - including both systems and a long-term services contract - that we needed."

"This agreement clearly shows how integrated Agfa HealthCare solutions can meet the varied needs of large, multi-site hospitals throughout the enterprise," agrees Albert Vroklage, Sales Manager Netherlands, for Agfa HealthCare.
