Birmingham Dental Hospital and School of Dentistry Chooses Agfa HealthCare's Enterprise Imaging Unified Management Platform

Agfa HealthCareAgfa HealthCare announces today that Birmingham Dental Hospital and School of Dentistry has chosen its Enterprise Imaging unified management platform, as well as the XERO Viewer, which will allow sharing of images throughout the hospital and beyond. The contract was signed on the 31 March and installation will start mid 2015. The agreement includes support for five years, with the possibility to extend it for two additional years.

Leading provider of healthcare IT solutions
Birmingham Dental Hospital is part of Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Trust and is the home to the University of Birmingham's School of Dentistry. The dental hospital and school of dentistry is one of only 10 in England. Providing a unique range of dental services for the people of West Midlands and further distance away, it covers all dental specialties. The hospital handles around 115,000 consultations each year.

In an open, competitive procurement tender via the NHS Supply Chain, Agfa HealthCare was shortlisted along with one other supplier, before being selected for the contract. "The functionalities of the Enterprise Imaging solution and XERO Viewer met our needs, plus we knew and trusted the Agfa HealthCare name, brand and organization," explains Martyn Langford, IT Project Manager, Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Trust.

Sophisticated yet easy to use solution
Agfa HealthCare's Enterprise Imaging solution is an imaging informatics solution that automates task-based clinical productivity, for optimal total cost of ownership. This completely unified imaging platform provides a picture archiving and communication system (PACS), advanced image processing, appointment management, integration of clinical information and results reporting all in one sophisticated platform. The highly intuitive user interface delivers workflow efficiencies, while the single platform reduces complexity. Report consistency and turnaround time are improved with sectional reporting, and the solution is scalable to meet changing imaging needs.

Together with the Enterprise Imaging solution, Birmingham Dental Hospital and School of Dentistry will also implement the XERO Viewer, which allows any authorized user to view patient images, regardless of department or region of origin, at any time from any authorised web-enabled device.

Enterprise Imaging solution: much more than PACS
"Agfa HealthCare's Enterprise Imaging solution was the best solution for answering our needs, especially the task-based workflow that enhances clinical productivity, the single, modern platform that optimizes total cost of ownership and the mobility that XERO gives us. In addition, its scalability gives us the possibility to expand the solution in the future to meet our evolving demands of image sharing and management," comments Jean Kelly, Superintendent Radiographer, Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Trust.

"With our Enterprise Imaging solution and XERO Viewer, we will be supporting the hospital in its digital path; and thereby, in continuing its mission to provide the best healthcare service to its many patients," comments Grant Witheridge, General Manager of Agfa HealthCare. "At the same time, we are very pleased to have this opportunity to build a long-term relationship with this new customer, especially in the dental healthcare field."
