Innovation Improves Care Delivery Around the World

AllscriptsAllscripts Healthcare Solutions (NASDAQ: MDRX) was recently awarded five separate patents over the course of just eight days, reflecting the company's commitment to delivering unique solutions to its clients and demonstrating its significant momentum in health IT innovation. The Allscripts patent program is expected to add numerous additional patents throughout the remainder of 2020 as the company will deliver innovation to improve how clinicians deliver care and connect the overall patient experience.

Each of the patents recently awarded contributes to streamlining and improving healthcare delivery. For example, one of the patents is for an application that connects electronic health records (EHRs) to various wellness applications to provide patients frictionless goal-tacking functionality, which directly leads to a higher level of patient engagement. Another application enables API calls from EHRs to initiate searches over genetic testing data stores. A patent was also issued for an application that helps organizations secure data in a HIPAA-compliant manner that will not cause performance issues that are often associated with typical encryption practices.

With a long history as a leader in healthcare technology, Allscripts continues seizing opportunities to enrich its offerings. Through extensive investment in software R&D these efforts have resulted in an extensive patent program that has 150 patents issued plus another 150-plus patents currently pending. In 2013 there was one patent in the Allscripts portfolio. Allscripts’ vision remains firmly set on providing healthcare organizations the distinctive solutions they need to deliver excellent care.

"Innovation is at the core of everything we do and I’m proud of the visionary work our team consistently executes upon to grow the capabilities of our solutions to help our clients deliver better care," said Allscripts CEO, Paul Black. "Allscripts believes that healthcare solutions should be open, for everyone, and leading-edge innovation is the driver to make that a reality."
