German Federal Minister of Health to Open TeleHealth at CeBIT 2010

TeleHealthThe Federal Minister of Health, Dr. Philipp Rösler, will be the official patron of TeleHealth, the flagship fair for computerized medicine taking place under the umbrella of CeBIT 2010. In addition, Dr. Rösler will officially open TeleHealth on 2 March together with high-ranking industry representatives.

"TeleHealth provides an excellent platform for showcasing Germany's innovative potential and capabilities in the area of telemedicine and e-health. With our coalition agreement we have created the necessary framework. Germany's healthcare system needs a telematics infrastructure that facilitates the safe and effective exchange of data," Dr. Philipp Rösler emphasizes.

"We are very pleased that Dr. Philipp Rösler has agreed to open TeleHealth 2010 in his role as official patron. The Minister's presence underlines the importance of TeleHealth as the leading discussion forum for the political and business communities and IT users in the healthcare sector," explains Ernst Raue, Member of the Deutsche Messe AG Board responsible for CeBIT.

More than 200 guests are expected to attend the opening ceremony of TeleHealth, which begins at 12 noon at the TeleHealth Forum in Hall 8.

From 2 to 6 March 2010 TeleHealth will showcase the latest developments in the field of IT-based medicine. The spotlight will be on four key thematic areas: Prevention, Infrastructure, Telemonitoring and Homecare. For the first time the international TeleHealth Conference will extend over a period of five days. A further new feature will be the program of "Theme Days", which will deliver in-depth information to specific visitor groups. On Wednesday 3 March, for example, the focus will be on the information requirements of general medical practitioners. A major highlight in 2010 will be FutureCare, an event realized jointly by Deutsche Messe and the IT industry association BITKOM. The goal here is to illustrate technical progress in computerized medicine with reference to real-life situations. Visitors will have the chance to take part in various themed tours and gain insights into the latest IT solutions for the healthcare sector.
