BCS calls for submissions for HC 2008: Invitation to the Future

Healthcare Computing Conference 2008: Invitation to the FutureIT professionals working in the health and social care field are being called upon to submit papers and participate in the British Computer Society's (BCS) Healthcare Computing Conference 2008: Invitation to the Future. The three day conference will take place at the Harrogate Conference Centre 21-23 April 2008. The call is for papers, posters, tutorials, panel sessions, and association and group sessions.

The theme for this 25th anniversary conference is the future, examining how frontline care services are going to undergo substantial changes in order to meet the challenges of providing health and social care in the digital age.

The three day conference will consider the current state of play and how care services could look in five or more years time and how best to get there. It will cover the very newest forms of care delivery, emerging digital tools and how innovative information and communications techniques and technologies may be used in the delivery of health and social care services of the future.

The 2008 conference has a new date and new format with parallel conferences taking place each day. The topics include:

  • Delivery of care across the sectors
  • Making innovative technologies work
  • Supporting access, disability and diversity
  • Building capability in people and services
  • Implementing national programmes
  • Transforming services
  • Managing safety and risk for subjects of care
  • Understanding current priorities and future challenges in health and care
