Wipro Showcases its Expertise at the Global E-Health Forum 2010

Wipro Technologies, the Global Consulting, System Integration and Outsourcing Business of Wipro Limited (NYSE:WIT), participated in the Global E-Health Forum, held on the 25th and 26th October in Hamburg Germany. The forum is Europe's leading committee spearheading issues on healthcare and relevant upcoming technologies.

In keeping with this year's theme "E-Health: Strategies, Solutions and Services", Wipro Technologies' healthcare practice conducted a workshop on "E-Health: A perspective". The workshop led by Wipro focused on the various initiatives undertaken by the company in this area.

"E-Health is going to be a key platform for delivering Healthcare services in future. It will help physicians and health care providers to reduce costs and increase efficiency by integrating all stakeholders through technology," said Raman Sapra, General Manager and Industry Head Healthcare, Wipro Technologies.

Europe is a leader in the field of E-Health with the UK's National Health Services program being one of the most extensive initiatives ever undertaken world-wide. Germany, Sweden and a host of other countries are implementing extensive programs. Wipro is supporting key E-Health initiatives across US, Europe and Asia-Pacific. Wipro is currently implementing one of the world's largest e- governance initiatives called 'Panchdeep' for the Employee State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), the Indian Government Chartered insurance and healthcare organization delivering Social Security benefits to employed individuals and their families. The objective is to provide quality healthcare to all members and attempt to create one of the largest healthcare medical records database in the world. For another Cardiac Monitoring solutions customer based in the US, Wipro is supporting its Mobile Cardiac Telemetry tool which includes 24x7 support through a Remote Patient Monitoring shared services center supporting EMEA and APAC patients.

"When talking about E-Health, we have to think globally. Diseases, especially pandemia, do not respect country borders. Therefore, interoperability/interconnectivity is a must for healthcare IT solutions. Globalization also means a globalization of healthcare," said Ljubisav Matejevic, Founder and Director, Global E-Health Forum.

The first conference day at the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce featured strategies and best practice presentations of speakers from Asia, Europe, New Zealand and the USA as well as workshops, discussion forums, and exhibitions by solution providers. The second day of the Forum will include hands-on presentations, workshops and guided tours at two hospitals of Asklepios, recognized as one of the most innovative leading hospital groups.
