iMDsoft's Decision Support Tools Help Dramatically Reduce Errors, Improve Protocol Compliance and Enhance Financial Performance

iMDsoftiMDsoft®'s Clinical Information Systems, coupled with MetaVision Event ManagerTM, are proven to significantly improve care quality and efficiency, to increase adherence to regulations and protocols and to deliver financial benefits. Hospitals using iMDsoft's products have reported outcomes that include increased revenue, reduced prescription errors and adverse events, improved nutrition in the ICU and increased adherence with PONV guidelines, PQRI measures and organ donation guidelines.

MetaVision Event Manager from iMDsoft is a decision support tool that uses branching, longitudinal logic to track changes in patient status and deviations from clinical or administrative protocols. Event Manager issues smart notifications when specific changes in a patient's condition are detected, enabling timely clinical responses. It sends on-screen, email, or SMS reminders for required actions such as initiating or discontinuing medications, performing tests, or taking recommended safety measures. Event Manager can also help contain costs by presenting clinicians with valuable opportunities to make fiscally responsible decisions.

The following research highlights the high impact results hospitals have achieved using MetaVision®’s decision support tools:

Schneider Children's Medical Center, Israel:
MetaVision prevents weight-based calculation errors, which are of particular significance in pediatrics. Adverse drug events were reduced by 72%, while medication prescription errors fell from 5.5% to a mere 0.7% (Pediatrics, Vol. 124, No. 3, September 2009, pp. 935-940).

VU University Medical Center, the Netherlands:
MetaVision allows for improved early delivery of nutrition in the ICU. Using Event Manager, the percentage of patients with adequate nutrients delivered by day 4 in the ICU increased from 30.2% to 56.5%, in accordance with ICU guidelines (The Netherlands Journal of Medicine, Vol. 67, No. 11, December 2009).

OLVG hospital, the Netherlands:
MetaVision dramatically increases adherence to prophylaxis administration guidelines. Timely delivery of both dexamethasone and granisetron increased from 39% to 79% (European Journal of Anaesthesiology, Vol 27 - Issue 2 pp. 187–191 February 2010).

Henry Ford Hospital, US:
MetaVision dramatically improves regulatory compliance, increasing organ donation conversion rate from 64% to 86%. Event Manager enabled the hospital to comfortably exceed the CMS and Joint Commission national goal of 75%.

Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), US:
MGH implemented an extensive research and education program exploring the safety and effectiveness of drug alternatives (higher vs. lower cost). After MGH set up prompts using Event Manager for drug optimization during long surgeries, the program saved the hospital $700,000 over a period of 16 months.

Lehigh Valley Hospital (LVH), US:
MetaVision significantly enhances compliance with PQRI Measure 193 - Perioperative Temperature Management, designed to reduce the incidence of perioperative hypothermia. Compliance has increased from 60% to 92% since LVH implemented MetaVision Event Manager.

"Given the growing complexity of regulations and clinical workflow, hospitals need advanced clinical information systems that feature powerful decision support tools," said Phyllis Gotlib, CEO, iMDsoft. "iMDsoft clients all over the world report concrete, quantifiable improvements in patient safety, adherence to clinical and administrative protocols, and better financial performance."
