Intouch with Health Uses InterSystems Ensemble to Connect NHS's Largest Self-Service Kiosk Deployment

InterSystems InterSystems, a global leader in software for connected care, today announced that its partner Intouch with Health Ltd has used InterSystems Ensemble®, a rapid integration platform, to connect patient self-service kiosks at Leeds Teaching Hospital NHS Trust. In the UK's largest deployment of its kind, a total of 30 kiosks implemented in Leeds General Infirmary, St James's University Hospital, Chapel Allerton Hospital, Leeds Dental Institute, Seacroft Hospital, and Wharfedale Hospital now enable on average 11,000 new and existing patients to use self-check-in facilities every month.

From its start in April 2013, the project took less than six months to complete. By using Ensemble's out-of-the-box, industry-standard HL7 communications support, it was easier and quicker for Intouch to connect the kiosks to the hospitals' patient administration systems.

Rob Child, Informatics Programme Manager at Leeds Teaching Hospital NHS Trust said, "We chose Intouch because of their innovative, operationally friendly kiosk solution, and their strong partnership with InterSystems. We have seen a marked improvement since implementation in the quality of patient information, as it is captured directly from patients.

"Now, prior to their appointment, or on arriving at the hospital, patients can check-in and update their information. This provides enhanced privacy for patients and frees hospital staff to perform patient-facing services."
