Bayer HealthCare Manufacturing S.r.l. is looking for a brilliant candidate to fill the position of Data Scientist at the manufacturing plant of Garbagnate Milanese (MI), to support the digital transformation and to improve performances in operations, transforming data into knowledge and opportunities for the business.

The major tasks will be:

  • Use Mathematics, Statistics and Machine Learning to derive key insights for the pharmaceutical business
  • Perform explanatory data analyses, generate and test working hypotheses, prepare and analyze historical data and identify patterns
  • Write highly optimized code to develop useful products for the business
  • Collaborate with the IT department and drives the manufacturing IT infrastructure and framework changes which are necessary for an efficient and secure connection to data
  • Help to drive the analytical scope and method for projects, including formulating and shaping the models, in collaboration with Team Members, End Users, Development Staff, and other Stakeholders
  • Present results and opportunities to all Stakeholders
  • Develop internal knowledge and competencies to sustain the digital transformation.

Who you are

  • University degree (PhD or MSc) in Engineering, Computer Science or Informatics (preferred) or in Mathematics, Statistics
  • 5+ years of experience in the application of advanced analytical and statistical methods to the industrial world
  • Italian mother tongue and fluent in English (written and spoken)
  • Curiosity for new methods and technologies and enthusiasm for data science challenges
  • Experience with manufacturing IT landscape, to drive the IT infrastructure and framework changes necessary to support the data analysis tasks
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, to translate analytical concepts into a story
  • Capability to build strong links with the academic world and industrial innovators, to constantly share knowledge and stay ahead of the curve on the latest developments
  • Experience in multivariate statistical procedures (multiple regression, MANOVA, factor analysis, etc.) and machine learning methods (Random Forest, bootstrapping, Artificial Neural Networks etc)
  • Coding experience in at least 2 of the following language: R, Python, Scala, SQL
  • Solid knowledge of databases, data structures
  • Hands on experience of IT infrastructure (firewall, networking etc) and of IT framework (HW, SW, data connection interfaces, Operating Systems and security)
  • Experience in design of experiments (DoE): data preparation, assessment of data quality, new variable creation, variable selection etc
  • Expertise in visualization tools (Qlikview, Spotfire, Tableau etc)
  • Preferred skills: knowledge of SAS, Matlab, Aspen, SPSS or other similar modeling softwares and distributed computing or NoSQL technologies
