RELIEF Project Launches a Call for Tender Looking for ICT Solutions to Chronic Pain

RELIEF ProjectThe RELIEF project, coordinated by BravoSolution Spain, is looking for innovative ICT solutions to improve the self-management of chronic pain patients. The call for tenders is now open until the 15th of September. RELIEF is a Pre-Commercial Procurement (PCP) project funded by the European Commission under the Horizon 2020 Programme. This first tender is an opportunity for all interested eHealth entities to develop new products and services that meet the common challenge.

The project has received a funding of almost 2 million euro and is composed by 6 partners from Spain, France and Sweden.

The Buyer's Group is composed by Servicio Andaluz de Salud (SAS) in Spain, Uppsala County Council (CCU) in Sweden and the Central Purcharsing Body GIP RESAH in France, which is acting as Lead Procurer. Additional supporting partners are the Hospital Federation of France (SPH Conseil) and PSINET Research Group from the Open University of Catalonia (UOC).

RELIEF tackles chronic pain conditions which affect more than 95 million of European adult population. Currently, there is a wide range of devices related to eHealth but it is necessary to work in the gap between research and commercialization of these products. New ICT solutions are explored by using this Pre-Commercial Procurement process.

PCP is about stimulating supplier product development from the demand side so that from the outset it fits perfectly to the needs of the public authority interested in deploying the service commercially. It is about the public and private sector sharing the risks and benefits of picking up exploratory research which has the potential to innovate public services from the early stages of pre-commercial product development up to the stage where products are ready for commercialization.

RELIEF project started in February 2016, and was awarded as one of the 50 Best Digital Ideas in 2016, bestowed by leading Spanish financial daily Expansión.
