Orion Health Wins Technology Provider of the Year at 2015 HealthInvestor Awards

Orion HealthOrion Health, a leading population health management company and one of the world's top providers of electronic health records (EHRs), has been awarded the 2015 HealthInvestor award for Technology Provider of the year in recognition of its outstanding contribution to healthcare information technology. Announced at the HealthInvestor award gala, Orion Health stood above other submissions due to its innovation in the United Kingdom and deep impact on integrated health.

HealthInvestor judges praised the way in which Orion Health has been able to utilise and develop integration technology to meet the differing and changing needs of populations and healthcare providers. Recognised as a small-to-medium enterprise making a big impact, Orion Health has enabled providers from a variety of care settings to clearly and effectively communicate and share patient data, leading to remarkable results for a multitude of projects across the UK.

"Being acknowledged by HealthInvestor is acknowledgement that our solutions are delivering the value intended and we’re delighted that it highlights Orion Health as a market leader in healthcare technology in the UK," commented Colin Henderson, Managing Director, UK & Ireland at Orion Health. "This win will hopefully help us publicise and showcase the difference that our integrated care solutions are making in UK healthcare, no matter the scale or demand of the project."

The award was earned in part due to the following projects:

  • A partnership with HSCNI that resulted in a clinical portal-based electronic care record (The NIECR project) which services the entire population of Northern Ireland (more than 1.8 million people), and has already resulted in a HSJ Award and EHI Award.
  • Together with Connecting Care, Orion Health technology is integrating health and social care information to provide an integrated digital care record system across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.
  • NHS Great Glasgow and Clyde Health Board, one of the largest health boards in the UK, worked with Orion Health to implement an Electronic Patient Record system (the Glasgow EPR project) which allowed clinicians to access a unified record from multiple sources and care settings no matter where the clinician or patient was located.

The three projects that led to the win are representative of those that Orion Health has been involved in since its entrance into the eHealth market in the UK and Ireland. Delivering clinical portal functionality within hospitals and clinics and connecting electronic health records across multiple regions, Orion Health's business has expanded from 31 customers to over 65 NHS customers in just over three years and has cemented Orion Health as a leader in this market.

The HealthInvestor awards were established nine years ago in order to recognise the innovation and excellence of the teams investing in, operating or advising healthcare providers in the UK. More than 1,300 of the healthcare sector's leading figures attended this year's award - a testament to the ongoing enthusiasm for investing in the UK's healthcare space. Drawing in a diverse crowd, the awards celebrate a range of categories including property, finance and consultancy - providing an annual opportunity for the independent healthcare community to come together and share experiences.
