System C Delivers Hospital Systems to Isle of Man

System C Healthcare plcSystem C Healthcare plc announced that its major IT project computerising the Isle of Man's hospital services has gone live on time and within budget. Working closely with the local hospital team, the company has installed its MedWay patient management system - including its Patient Administration System (PAS), Accident and Emergency system, the Care Records maternity system and the HealthData Manager data warehouse - at the Nobles and Ramsay Cottage Hospitals in just eight months. Over 1,300 users have received training and the system includes integrated links to hospital legacy systems using the Rhapsody integration engine.

The integrated systems went live on the exact date agreed with the Isle of Man at the outset of the contract and without any contract change notices.

A key part of the project was a complex programme of business change across a number of operational services in Nobles Hospital. Support work for staff is ongoing as the team continues to refine business processes in response to feedback from staff and patients.

The company won the contract with the Isle of Man Government Department of Health and Social Security (DHSS) earlier last year. This hospital deployment is the first phase of the contract to install software solutions throughout the island's hospital and community services, providing a fully integrated Clinical Care Support Service (CCSS) serving all care settings.

"It is never easy choosing IT systems from demonstrations and procurements, but the MedWay solution has given us everything we were looking for", said Roger Godfrey, Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon at Nobles Hospital and clinical lead for the programme. "During the procurement System C told us what the system would do, how much it would cost and when it would be installed and that is exactly what they have delivered".

Sue Jones, Service Development Director at System C and programme director for this project said: "These systems are complex to install and require a real partnership between suppliers and the health service teams. The people on the ground have responded magnificently and we are delighted with their contribution and with the relationships we have built."

Ian Denley, System C’s Chief Executive Officer, added: "We are investing heavily in the development of our MedWay Electronic Patient Record systems and they are a key part of our plans moving forward. I am delighted that the Isle of Man system has gone live."
