Tieto's Agreement with Apotekens Service AB Extended

TietoApotekens Service AB, which is responsible for IT deliveries to all players in the deregulated pharmacy market, is extending its partnership with Tieto as supplier of IT services. The original agreement was signed in 2009 and includes operational services and consultancy support. The one year extension represents an order value of around SEK 56 million.

"This collaboration with Apotekens Service AB is extremely important to Tieto and forms part of our focus on the public sector," explains Mats Brandt, head of Tieto's public sector business in Sweden.

"The interaction between the County Councils' health services and Apotekens Service regarding e-prescriptions demands reliable IT support, and I am very pleased that we have been kept on as the provider of IT services for Apotekens Service," continues Mats Brandt.

Almost 90 percent of all prescriptions are now electronic and Apotekens Service handles around 40 million e-prescriptions every year. Over the coming contractual period, Tieto will focus further on creativity and proactive innovation to generate added value for the pharmacy market, pharmacy customers and the public at large.

"We look forward to our continued partnership with Tieto. E-prescriptions demand the highest standards of patient safety and reliable production, which is why the choice of IT supplier is so crucial to Apotekens Service AB," comments Jüri Tuks, CIO at Apotekens Service AB.

Tieto has been delivering IT services such as operational services, workplace services, integration solutions, system management, system development and consultancy support to Apoteket AB since 2007. When the pharmacy market was deregulated in 2009, parts of the agreement with Apoteket AB were transferred to the newly formed Apotekens Service AB, a state-owned company.
