Dales Housing Invests in Advanced Telecare for Over 800 Residents

TunstallDales Housing is deploying advanced new telecare solutions from Tunstall to over 800 residents in its supported and sheltered accommodation. Dales is the first organisation in the UK to use Tunstall's new MyAmie pendant.

The new installation will replace the existing, hard-wired communal alarm systems in Dales Housing's properties in Derbyshire with Connect systems from Tunstall. Tunstall will also project-manage the new deployment.

Fiona Innes, Sheltered and Supported Manager for Dales Housing said: "As part of our continuing modernisation programme of the alarm systems in our properties we wanted to provide next-generation solutions that were independent of the property, and could be personalised according to residents’ individual needs."

"Feedback from the first residents using the new Tunstall equipment and MyAmie pendants has been extremely positive. The new equipment has further enhanced users' independence, and their feeling of reassurance that help is always available when it's needed."

Residents in Dales Housing properties are being provided with Tunstall's new MyAmie personal pendant, linked to the Connect home units in each property. The MyAmie personal pendant is half the size of its predecessor making it more discreet, and has been specifically designed to fit comfortably on the user's wrist, or worn as a pendant or on a belt.

Despite its compact size, MyAmie's trigger button is a third larger than before, making it easier for users with limited dexterity to raise an alarm. Battery life is now 7 years, and it features an extended working range that allows users to go further outside their property and still have the ability to raise an alarm.

Richard Rawcliffe, Sales Director for Tunstall said: "We're very pleased that Dales Housing chose our next-generation MyAmie pendant for this major project. Dales Housing also has a platform for delivering support services that can be truly personalised to users, improving their quality of life and delivering proactive support around the clock."

Initially, Dales Housing is installing the MyAmie pendant and Connect units to over 800 residents, living in both category 1 and 2 accommodation. Dales Housing is aiming to expand the use of telecare solutions to all of its schemes, eventually offering it to residents outside the organisation and across the Derbyshire Dales.

Dales Housing is based in Derbyshire and is responsible for delivering services across the Derbyshire Dales to over 3,400 properties, offering 32 sheltered housing schemes to older and vulnerable people. Dales Housing owns and manages a variety of properties, including individual houses, and studio apartments within buildings with communal areas and facilities.
