Tunstall Chosen to Provide Telehealth Solutions in Australia

TunstallTunstall Healthcare, the leader in telehealthcare solutions, has been selected by the state Government of New South Wales in Australia as one of a panel of suppliers for its Connecting Care program, a new, large-scale initiative for chronic disease management.

The program, coordinated by New South Wales Health (NSW Health), will use telehealth systems to support state residents living with long-term health conditions including diabetes, CHF, coronary artery disease, COPD and hypertension.

Over the next four years the Connecting Care program has the potential to support 43,000 people, with up to 6,000 using telehealth solutions to monitor their health daily from their own homes.

NSW's publicly funded, state-wide initiative will link general practice, specialist medical, acute hospital, and community health services to deliver patient-centric, integrated care for people with complex chronic diseases. The telehealth programme will enable health staff to closely monitor patients' vital signs remotely and respond quickly to any changes, cutting avoidable hospital admissions. This encourages positive behaviour change, reinforces clinical best practice, and improves health, giving patients a better understanding of their condition.

Gil Baldwin, CEO of Tunstall Healthcare, said: "This large-scale initiative will improve outcomes for people with long-term conditions, and it's an honour to be chosen as a long-term strategic partner by NSW Health. Telehealth has a significant impact in helping to avoid unplanned hospital admissions and facilitating better pathways of care for patients. It also helps people with long-term conditions become more informed about their health, reducing anxiety and greatly improving quality of life. Tunstall is involved in major telehealth deployments internationally, which gives us a unique opportunity to share experience and best practice across the programs, to the benefit of our customers."
